Puppy from Us?

Ethically and Responsible Bred Dogs

Puppies born into our kennel are always the result of carefully planned pairings and extensively health-tested parents. Twi'leg puppies are registered with both the Finnish Kennel Club and the Finnish Food Authority. Puppies are ready to be rehomed at the earliest at 7 - 8 weeks of age, depending on the individual development of each puppy. All puppies are microchipped and undergo a veterinary check, with a certificate accompanied by them to the new home. Upon leaving us, the puppy has been dewormed multiple times and fed with high-quality food. Contracts are always made using the official forms of the Finnish Kennel Club. A Twi'leg puppy is sold as a family member and a pet.

When the puppy moves to the new home, with will be familiar food and a small puppy package. The breeder has written a comprehensive puppy guide, which will be given to the puppy buyer to read when a preliminary agreement on the sale of the puppy has been made. The breeder hopes that the guide will be thoroughly read before the new pet arrives home. The breeder also recommends familiarizing oneself with other literature related to dog training before buying the puppy.

A closed Facebook group is created for each litter, which the puppy families can use to exchange updates. Twi'leg Kennel offers free training sessions for behavior and dog show training for its dogs at the breeder's own training field. Once a year, the breeder organizes a kennel event intended for the whole family.

Puppies in the Living Room

Twi'leg puppies are born and spend their first weeks in the breeder's home. The puppies get to familiarize themselves with the breeder's everyday life, family, and visitors. Also, the puppies  will go out in their own safe fenced area. Growing up within the family, the puppies will familiarize to all the regular sounds of life.

Puppy from us?

A Twi'leg puppy costs 1400 € (including 24% VAT). The reservation fee for the puppy is 400€, which is deducted from the total price. The reservation fee is non-refundable if the purchase is canceled due to reasons caused by the buyer.

The cost of acquiring a dog is not the only expense that arises for a dog owner. Regular costs is needed for feeding, vaccinations, deworming, and purchasing accessories for the dog. Training courses and dog shows are enjoyable hobbies, and of course, everything costs money. Dogs can fall ill at times, so it's good to have a plan in place for covering veterinary fees and potential medication costs. In addition to ongoing expenses, it's useful to budget for the costs of official health tests already during the puppy acquisition phase.

Financial Support for the Health Examinations of Twi'leg Puppies.

It's impossible to improve and maintain breed health if dogs' health is not officially examined. Conducting health examinations is crucial for the well-being of the dog itself. The breeder and the Mittelspitz Breed Association recommend the following official health examinations:

  • Hips (PEVISA)
  • Elbows
  • Knees
  • Eyes

The official health examinations listed above cost approximately 350€ depending on the location (the estimate includes the Finnish Kennel Club examination referral fee calculated at the member rate). If you participate in group health examinations, the price is slightly lower. Additionally, if desired, the dog owner can choose the heart and back examined as well. The breeder provides a health examination support payment of 100€ to the dog owner immediately after the health examination results recommended by the breeder and the Breed Association are visible in the Finnish Kennel Club's breeding database.

In puppy inquiries, priority is given to families who understand that official health examinations are always for the dog's benefit, even if the dog is a pet and there are no breeding plans. Additionally, it's important to understand that official health examinations provide to the breeder with valuable information about the success of breeding choices and enable further improvement in the skeletal health of mittelspitz.

Breeding Co-ownership Dog?

From each litter, one female puppy is placed/sold with breeding rights to the Oulu region, to a responsible and cooperative home. The security deposit for a breeding rights dog is 700 €, which is refunded once the breeding terms are fulfilled. The breeding rights dog is sold at the full price, and a leasing agreement is made with the buyer, specifying the terms of breeding use and the compensation to be paid for it.

The Right Home for Every Puppy

I want to find the most suitable home for each puppy and I don't believe in having a "waiting list". Discussions about new homes begin when the female is confirmed pregnant, approximately 4 weeks before the litter is due. Once I've met a family interested in the puppies and they've met the litter at around 4 - 5 weeks of age, we can discuss reserving a puppy. A puppy is never promised or sold based solely on a phone call or email conversation. I kindly ask that puppy inquiries be primarily sent via email to: kennel.twileg(at)gmail.com.

The breeder selects the puppy for the family. Special attention is given to the selection, especially when the family is getting their first dog. For breeding is used dogs for breeding which are suitable as a first pet and have a temperament that is appropriate for families with children.
